Purchase Ledger Assistant

Location: Dover, UK


  • Morning banking
  • Daily cashflow
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Sending remittances to suppliers
  • Assisting in automation of purchase ledger processes
  • Key bank transactions into the system (NAV)
  • Reconcile supplier statements to identify any outstanding liabilities
  • Payment authorisation
  • Payment processing
  • Applying for clean import loans
  • Investigating purchase ledger queries
  • Creating company reports
  • Liaising with suppliers
  • Maintaining the accuracy of vendor details
  • Processing personal and company expenses
  • Ensure all invoices are registered on receipt and ensure that all invoices have the appropriate ledger code.
  • Take the ownership and responsibility for landed cost process
  • Timely and accurate reconciliation of fuel cards
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes that save time and work in purchase ledger
  • Monitor payments to suppliers to ensure they are authentic, accurate, timely and represent value for money, and that they are appropriately recorded in the accounts
  • Monitoring Accounts inbox
  • Review and challenge demerge chargers
  • Review of unallocated payments
  • Review of Opening Purchase Orders and GRNI
  • Creating and updating Direct Debits schedulers
  • Ad-hoc accountancy tasks

Skills and Experiences::

Experience of Purchase Ledger, Nominal Ledger, Bank Reconciliations and Payment Portals

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in Purchase Ledger Role
  • Experience with the full process of BACS payment run
  • Commitment to getting the job done in a pro-active enthusiastic manner
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Excellent Communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good Teamwork
  • Good attention to detail
  • Working understanding of VAT
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in dealing with Clen Import Loan
  • MUST have STRONG IT skills – Advanced Excel (pivot table, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP’s….)
  • MUST have manufacturing experience.
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Must have can-do attitude
